Dear Sirs for mayor samarinda Syaharie Jaang
On this occasion, we as students of senior high school is mandated by our teacher to make an open letter, yah! Although it may sound like a forced letter, but for the sake of Samarinda citizen’s welfare, my friend and I would like to express some concerns that may have not been addressed. Although these issues are not in accordance with the Act specified. However, in this letter we will openly convey this issue in accordance with the results of our observation. It doesn’t matter whether this will be conveyed to the mayor or not. Obviously we expect a response from the mayor through real work.
Dear Sirs for mayor samarinda Syaharie Jaang
As you know, Samarinda city is the capital of East Kalimantan and Samarinda has been changing very rapidly and issuing a large amount of money for roads widening, flyovers construction, green road updating, garden making, etc. What is clear is my friend and I represent the society of Samarinda through this open letter to thank you for it. However, for some reasons we think there are some of these developments that we deem it as useless. However, in a development there must be good and bad sides.
Here we discuss some of our observations on the developments in this city. The first, the act of road widening at the center of the city. We think this is good enough but in our opinion, why the widened roads are made from concrete, wouldn’t it be better if asphalt is used? In the treatment of concrete is less expensive but it will be easier to fix if using asphalt because if its broken only patched the damaged section only. From psychological aspect, asphalt is also better because it has a dark color and it makes a shady and comfortable the driver. And concrete color is bright and it makes us feel the color is barren. And you know why we consider asphalt to be more suitable? Because in our own opinion concrete is more dangerous than asphalt. If the asphalt roads are damaged, we can still see the damage and can avoid it. And when the concrete road are damaged, according to the results of our observations damage to the concrete is very difficult to see, so it is difficult to avoid that which it can also have an impact on traffic accidents. And concrete makes our vehicle tires become thinner quickly.
We strongly support the idea of widening the road, because it could reduce congestion. But we do not like it because of the misapplication of the road. The road widening makes the riders parked haphazardly whereas there are parking restrictions, so in this case we expect the firmness from the mayor regarding the issue. In our opinion, not only widened roads but also sewers must be widened in order to reduce flooding, and tighten the rules for not littering in the streets or in the river. Perhaps in this case, the mayor can impose pretty heavy penalties for the wrongdoers, so that the society will not repeat similar act. It will be nice to put a lot of trash cans in every spot so that people do not litter. The last thing that we want to convey is the function of the sidewalk, because we know the sidewalks in this era are sometimes used for motorcycle if there’s a traffic jam. Therefore, it is not safe for the pedestrian. So once again, we want the firmness from the mayor
We suggest increasing the quality of public transportation for convenience and raising taxes for vehicles such as in countries that are already developed. With the existence of such a concept, we believe it would be more beneficial for the society and also for the city itself. Especially with this concept, it can reduce congestion, air pollution, and also reduce the possibility of depletion of the ozone layer in the earth. This concept also strongly supports the concept East Kalimantan Governor Awang Ishak Faroek namely Kal-Tim Green.
In addition, we think about the park on the edge of the river 'lampion garden' is quite interesting. But in our opinion it would only crowded place at first only because the concept itself that's just for taking photos and eating. In our opinion, it would be much better if we add a place to play for children and make a comfortable place for a family gathering. Then tidy up the shape of the building in order to become a better place and the security should be increased because of its location on the edge of the river. Our suggestions for the future, parks in Samarinda surely increase the family entertainment as well as for newcomers or tourists, so from Samarinda itself it has the tourism that makes many tourists are attracted by Samarinda with an interesting concept, an affordable price, and kinship. So that later on families can spend time together and able to relax after work once every week.
A few of us, if there is a sentence that is not pleasing to the mayor we apologize profusely. Thank you for your attention.
